New Staff, Space, and Capabilities
March 6, 2019
A year ago, our staff and Board of Directors were busy at a strategic planning retreat. We spent the day in deep reflection and discussion as we collectively envisioned CAASE’s course for the next several years. The retreat was one step in planning our organization’s future—a process that spanned months. Today, we are seeing the results of our efforts coming to life as we progress toward the goals we set for 2018-2021.
Our ambitious plan requires resources. A new development position was needed to focus on individual giving and fundraising events. We hired Natalie Richards to take on these efforts as our Development Manager, Special Events and Donor Relations. We also created an Administrative Associate position and brought on Dauren Augustine. She provides excellent support to our development team and all other departments.
Our Board of Directors is also enriching their capabilities. They are strengthening the functionality of committees and assisting in solidifying CAASE’s identity. Currently, board members are working with staff as we define and articulate our guiding principles and values. The outcome will help prioritize our positions and increase the public’s understanding of the philosophies that motivate our work.
Another major part of the plan is to become more accountable to survivors and those most at risk of sexual harm. It’s an area of CAASE’s work that’s full of opportunity. So, to tackle this objective, we created the new Community Engagement Director position. We are on the verge of welcoming an outstanding person into this role and look forward to seeing how their dedicated leadership will improve our engagement with people experiencing intersecting vulnerabilities in Chicago.
Perhaps the most visible sign of CAASE’s growth is our expanded space. To accommodate increases in capacity and staff, we acquired a second suite on our current floor. It nearly doubled our footprint and provides offices for our growing team. We now have an area large enough for all employees to gather together for meetings. Plus, the new suite gives us the ability to host trainings, community groups, and small events.
In less than a year since the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan’s implementation, CAASE is excelling toward meeting many of our goals. We are proud of our achievements and so thankful to have your support along the way!
