‘Celebrating Allies’ Breaks Record
October 22, 2020
On October 17, we put on Celebrating Allies. This annual cocktail reception recognizes CAASE’s work improving laws, educating allies, and championing survivors of sexual violation in Chicago while seeking funds to bolster our efforts. Each year, we enjoy the support and generosity of people like you. We have more to be thankful for than ever before because the event raised $40,325.83—a record amount! 150 attendees along with sponsors and donors made the evening such a success and are helping CAASE continue in our mission to end sexual harm.
Celebrating Allies also gives us an opportunity to praise the work of changemakers in the movement. This year, we honored WBEZ South Side reporter and author Natalie Moore. Her work shines a light on inequality and segregation in Chicago while uplifting the voices of those most impacted by sexual harm. Her talent for exposing systemic oppression while connecting her audience to the personal stories of those it impedes greatly benefits our city and the communities CAASE is accountable to.
While guests joined us in celebrating Natalie, they enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails. They were moved by a poetic performance from e. nina jay and deeply touched by a speech from a former CAASE legal services client. The two helped illustrate the impact that sexual violation can have on a survivor’s life while illuminating how support can have a tremendous impact on the healing process.
We are so grateful to all those who supported Celebrating Allies and cannot wait to host the event again next year. The generous backing of our sponsors, including Skadden, General Iron Industries, Boomerang Information Services, Motorola Solutions, Corboy & Demetrio, Strategic Talent Solutions, Mayer Brown, CDK Global, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, coupled with attendees’ contributions is a compelling testament to the power of our community to join together to end sexual harm.
If you would like to support CAAES’s work, please consider making a donation.
